Snow Commute - Overpass

Some of you have asked if we get a lot of snow. That depends on your definition of a lot. I don't think we get enough snow but others think we get too much.

This photo was taken last Friday (Nov 30) of the cars coming from downtown onto Lakeshore Drive via the Overpass (called that since it goes above the train tracks of both the Ontario Northland and Ottawa Valley Railways). The snowstorm is just starting to roll into town.

To give you an idea as to the amount of snow that has fallen (& drifted), since Sunday afternoon, I have shovelled out the driveway 5 times! It's supposed to let up a bit by tomorrow, which means that I'll actually have a chance to do a proper job of cleaning the driveway and piling the snow away from the house.

Here it's important to push the snow as far away from the driveway and house on these first snow falls since it will continue to snow until March. It is no picnic trying to clean your driveway when you have created 6 foot banks of snow on either side.

Hi,
Thanks for your comment.
My bridge photo was from last year at the same time. We did have our first snow here on Dec 1st this year too, but I didnt really get a chance to get out and photograph it as I worked nights and was sleeping. I did get out and snap a few of the christmas parade though and posted one of that on the 2nd.
The snow has almost washed away now.

Repeating a comment I made on another blog: I really miss snow (we get mostly rain here), but I really don't miss the snowblowing/shoveling. Good luck this winter!

Snow??? what's that?? only joking of course , I say this because we never get snow here on the sunny island of Malta. I must admit that we get wind and rain plus lots of high humidity since we are a small island.

I love your photo shots from the plane

That's a lot of snow in any language. I guess you get used to it, and it is pretty (the first day), but I'm already looking forward to spring.

I used to have that problem when I lived in Syracuse where they got ten inches yesterday (well, in Baldwinsville). It would rift up to the level of the top of the banks so you had to throw it as far as you could. Glad I don't have to do THAT anymore. AK!

Cool shot!

We wonder how was Canada covered by snow because we were there this summer. Thank your for this photo.
I really enjoyed the airplane ride serie. It was a great idea. Very spectacular and fully in the spirit of DPB.
Thanks for all your comments.
For your information, the light of bridge is made with blue neon lights fixed below the bridge deck.

Wow!!!!
What a snow!!! Yes you should wake up an hour earlier to clean (shovel?) the streets before you can leave the house! My aunt told me she had to put o the motor of the car first, an shovel etc... How do you do that? Do you have to leave the house also very earley because of this snow? However it looks pretty though, ..... if you have NOT to go to your work?

I showed today something really DUTCH, we celebrate it mostly for the children a "Sinterklaas" evening with presents and sweet candies, The Sinterklaas and his helpers are all dressed up for the children, come and see:)

Greetings see you:) JoAnn

Good grief! I can't imagine that kind of snow. Your photos are great. It's wonderful to learn about other places with these photo blogs. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
