June's Theme Day - View From Your Room

It's June 1st and it's time for the monthly theme for Daily City Photo Bloggers, this month's theme is to take a photo from your bedroom (or from a friend's bedroom). This month close to 90 bloggers have signed up for June's theme.

This is the view I get to see everyday. A city park that is surrounded by houses so it actually acts almost like an extra large backyard for the residents whose houses back onto the park. The park has a walking trail but no ball field or soccer (football) pitch so is quite a tranquil place.

Please visit some of the other Daily City Photo Bloggers listed below who have kindly agreed to share their cities with you.

New Water Treatment Plant on Trout Lake

No a large McMansion is not being built on the shores of Trout Lake, but this is the new water treatment plant rising amongst the homes on Lakeside Drive.

North Bay obtains its municipal water supply from Trout Lake. According to the city's water report, the water is drawn from Delaney Bay approximately 300 meters from shore.

Peaceful May Night at the Movies

A nighttime photo of the North Bay Mall and the Galaxy Cinemas. All is peaceful now but by the end of June start of July, the mall and the rest of the areas on the lake will be under siege from the shadflies. When that time comes, I will be sure to have some pictures so you can see. I also explain what shads are and what they mean for the fish and health of Lake Nipissing.

How Much Wood Can A WoodChuck Chuck?

I don't know how much wood a woodchuck can chuck but this neighourhood groundhog certainly likes the flowers in the area. If he keeps picking on the nicest flower beds in the neighourhood, Marmota monax may find that some homeowners might offer him a free move outside of his current postal code!!

Trains & Buses Servicing North Bay

This is the schedule of buses and trains that regularly service North Bay.

Just a little over 20 years ago, there used to be 4 passenger trains running daily through North Bay but with continued government cutbacks, there are only 2 now. It seems that train travel is not being encouraged here in Canada nor in the USA meanwhile our friends in Europe are seeing the benefits and beauty of rail travel. It would be nice to see more trains travelling the rails and less truck traffic on the roads.
