Lightning & Rain along Memorial Drive

A large thunderstorm moved thru the North Bay region on late Sunday night /early Monday morning and the above photo shows a few of the lightning strikes. It was my first time trying to capture lightning and few of my photos actually turned out (either no lightning or too many strikes which made most of the view burned out).

The view is from a parking lot along the waterfront on Memorial Drive looking south-southeast towards the West Ferris area.

Ottawa Valley Railway (OVR) on Oak Street

This is the headquarters for the Ottawa Valley Railway. It is a short line railroad that is owned by Rail America. The line actually used to be part of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) but was spun off to create RailLink which was later purchased by Rail America. The building is not as impressive as the Ontario Northland Railroad's head offices which I will post in the coming week.

King's Landing at Sunset

Just another peaceful evening in the Bay!

Some mallard ducks settling in for the night, while the last of the boys who were fishing off the government dock bikes home.

King's Landing is the name of the government dock that is the summer home of the Chief Commander II (an all aluminum twin-hull catamaran boat) which plies the waters of Lake Nipissing. (Hopefully later this summer I will post a shot of the Chief in action along with a bit of its history).
