Old Teacher's College Correctional Services Bldg (3)

The Ontario Ministry of Correctional Services new building surrounds and incorporates the old Teacher's College. It looks great from all directions, since the new building is the dusty rose coloured glass which does not detract from the brick of the old Normal School.

Those additions to old buildings are hard to blend in. You're architects did a good job.

This is a very interesting and prety building.

I have nothing against modern architecture, but sticking something so differnet in style and material onto a grand, old, detailed building looks inappropriate and careless. This happens all the time, especially on institutional buildings like schools and hospitals. The new additions are monuments to the ego of an architect. In this case, the building lost a lot of charm with this harsh addition.

Your blog is great. All your pictures are terrific and the locations are well selected. I grew up in North Bay and the pictures bring back wonderful memories.
