October Theme Day - Cemetery

Today, October 1, is theme day which is to be a cemetery photo.

This gravestone (in the Terrace Lawn Cemetery on O’Brian Street) serves as a reminder that Lake Nipissing could be dangerous to cross as evidenced by the drowning of the entire Mansbridge family.

If you click on the photo you will see a larger image which will allow you to read the engraving.

There are close to 100 other Daily City Photo bloggers who are participating in this month's theme. Please take a few moments to visit some of the others listed below.

Nice pick, I don't think I've ever seen a cautionary headstone before.

How interesting. How sad to read what happened to this family. Caution indeed.

En effet on ne fait jamais attention aux dangers de l'eau. Nous avons dans mon village en Dordogne, de nombreux morts qui n'ont pas assez fait attention à la riviere (beaucoup de courants et de tourbillons) ;o((

Indeed one never pays attention to the dangers of water. We have in my village in the Dordogne, of many deaths which did not pay attention to the river enough (many currents and swirls) ;O((

OH, how sad, a whole family drowned! The caution is worthy as well!

I missed signing up for the theme-day this time, which is too bad, because I have tons of cool cemetery shots. Nice change of pace here! Fun, if sad.

This is a pretty ghastly story, isn't it? As I check the blogs today, I'm reminded again and again about the fragility of human existence.

How absolutely awful! Note how young the children were, and the mother wasn't very much older! Very interesting. . . .

What an interesting grave marker, especially the age of the mom. Great choice!

What a tragedy! You can feel the pain of the survivors as you read the monument.

That is very sad when a whole family is lost at the same time. I guess we all need to live for today because life is so fragile, just as Kate mentioned, and we all try not to think about.

Interesting story about the grave stone. Sorry about being late to comment -- I was away yesterday in Texas and just getting back to my computer to see all that I missed.
